SpaceX completes first Starlink satellite Direct-to-cell constellation

SpaceX has completed the first orbital shell of Starlink Direct-to-cell phone constellation, the company announced today on X.

According to a post by Elon Musk, Starlink Direct-to-cell (DTC) mega constellation will enable unmodified cellphones to have internet connectivity in remote areas.

This milestone was achieved after SpaceX Falcon 9 successfully launched 20 Starlink satellites including 13 with Direct-to-cell capabilities to low-earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

Companies providing Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) have lined up to partner with SpaceX for Starlink coverage, these include T-Mobile in the United States of America, Rogers in Canada, One NZ in New Zealand, Optus in Australia, Salt in Switzerland among many others.

Starlink Direct-to-cell satellites will make it possible to connect to the web and receive high-speed, low latency internet from the remote places on earth, just with your smartphone.
